Foundations

What a tackle chain is, why the job comes first, and what an unknown means.

Describe a setup as one chain and state its job before touching a rating.

What this teaches
A setup is only compatible or mismatched for a stated job.
Water type changes the operating load before any rating is read.
A blank job field is reported as unknown — it is never assumed.
Why it matters
The same rod, reel and line can be a sound chain on a still lake and a mismatch in heavy river cover. Until the job is stated, the engine has nothing honest to check against, which is why the setup page asks for the water before it asks for a single rating.
